Hi

Hoping for some help to regain the psu reduncy on our P4208CP4MGHC system.

Everything is original and untampered.

During bios updates last night using OFU I noticed these messages:

C:\flashupdt\04>flashupdt -u flashupdt.cfg

One Boot Flash Update Utility Version 13.1 Build 5

SDR Auto-Configuration is not supported on this platform.

Select the function you desire to perform:

1 Update only the SDR repository

2 Update only the FRU repository

3 Update both the FRU and the SDR repository

4 Modify the Product Asset Tag

5 Exit

Power supply 2 FRU is invalid.

Probing system for sensors and FRU device hardware...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After succesful completion of the flash and reboot we have this in the event log:

EventID:1099 Time Stamp:05/29/2015 00:44:59 SensorName:Pwr Unit Redund Sensor Type:Power Unit Description:reports redundancy has been lost -Asserted

EventID:1100 Time Stamp:05/29/2015 00:44:59 SensorName:Pwr Unit Redund Sensor Type:Power Unit Description:reports redundancy has been lost, but the unit is still functioning with the minimum amount of resources needed for normal operation -Asserted

-----------------------------------------------------------

In the BMC web console server health I see this:

Pwr Unit StatusAll deassertedOK0x0000Pwr Unit Redundreports redundancy has been lost reports redundancy has been lost, but the unit is still functioning with the minimum amount of resources needed for normal operationWarning0x000A

-------------------------------------------------------------

Is it something in relation to running the updates via OFU and the message stated immediately after starting the update sequece?:

"SDR Auto-Configuration is not supported on this platform"

Would rerunning the update package in EFI help the recognition of the psu´s?

Please if anyone has suggestions on how to work this out chip in.

Best Regards Peter

I would try an AC cycle then run the FRUSDR again in EFI.

Part of the flash process, the system reads the FRU (Field Replaceable Unit) data to figure out which power supply is installed (465w, 750W , 1200w 1600w)

You may also want to confirm that the PMBUS wires (5 x1 plug) from the PSU is plugged into the mother board.

What Power supplies are you using?

Hi

Thanks for response.

I will be trying out your suggestion along the lines of the reset of AC cycle and then retry reading FSUDSR. .

But since Im on a remote site I have to wait untill I have someone out there to help me out.

ill report back as I am able to move on....

Judging from the ARK it is the 750w psu´s used in this model:

http://ark.intel.com/products/56414/Intel-Server-System-P4208CP4MHGC ARK | Intel® Server System P4208CP4MHGC

I have done bios upgrades on the system in question before without losing its recpognition of the psu´s and system hasnt been moved around so I expect the 5 pin cable to be in place.
