I did some research on that error and it seems that other user have similar errors as well. Take a look at Re: Uninterruptible sleep during Edison SPI . At the moment I’m not sure how to resolve this but keep an eye on the post; we are working to post a reply there.
To add more space to /dev/root you can check How to boot Edison from an SD card (Linux) and follow the steps.

As to add more space to /dev/root. I don't want to boot Edison from external storage.
After I flush my edison. The /dev/root is already 89% occupied. But there are a lot of spaces in /home dir. Can I
rearrange the partition of the directory and How?
