I'm actually confused on how to go about following his Instructions. I tracked down the latest version of the Edison-bsp_ug_331188-002.pdf but they don't seem to be instructions, moreover just a over view of commands.
I'm actually stuck on something basic. I am trying to flash the latest image of Edison Yocto, but I can't connect or root to the edison anymore. I was following the directions on Intel & the SparkFun.
In the other thread Olivier suggests some changes in the kernel in order to include the NFC module. For this you will need to build a custom image. For this, you can use the BSP Intel® Edison Boards — Board Support Package (BSP) User Guide
If you go to Section4 of the BSP you will see a brief explanation of how to include other packages.
Which instructions are you following? and which OS are you using on your PC?
You can try the flashall script. There are some threads explaining this process. If you are on Windows: Re: Can't flash the Linux image or if you are on Linux: Re: Intel edison problem with reflashing on Linux . Try this process and let me know if it works for you
For Mac you can run the flashall script following this:
1. Open your Mac's terminal and type:
ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)"
brew install dfu-util coreutils gnu-getopt
2. Download the latest Yocto image from: IoT - Intel® Edison Board Download | Intel® Developer Zone and decompress it
3. In terminal, go to the place the Yocto image was downloaded and into the Yocto image foder.
4. Type ./flashall.sh
And you can also try with the Flash Tool Lite ->IoT - Flash Tool Lite User Manual | Intel® Developer Zone
Update: I have started using new terminal emulators called CoolTerminal (CoolTerm) and ZTerminal (ZTerm) which allowed me to flash the updated Yocto Images. However, I am still working on getting the custom NFC Enabled Images Installed.
CMata_Intel I will post my Progress in editing the images for help if needed and also for reference if anyone wants to do the same thing in the future.
Sorry if this is a stupid question. But i have no idea how to set up my environment, or what exactly that means. I've tried running the scripts from the resource CMata_Intel showed me and the one from olivers_m in my Mac Terminal and the Terminal Emulators but that doesn't seem to be the proper way to execute those commands. I'm not sure what it is that I am supposed to set up to make the proper changes to enable NFC.
I understand that the instructions are for someone using a Linux OS but shouldn't the commands be a bit similar to the commands on a Mac.
Update, I have translated a bit of the commands to Mac and have made a little progress. However I am stuck at the second to last command on Pg. 7.
I do not have the file :
where am I supposed to get it?
