So is the system still POSTing?
If so have you tried booting from the ODD to try an reinstall the OS?
yes, it is POSTing fine. installed OS and still an issue with booting. the OS seem to be fine, i just can't boot into it.
Personally, i would start form scratch,
Clear CMOs, Update bios (again), put all the BIOS option to default (f9) and then install the OS again.
By the way what HDD ar eyou using?
I have recover the BIOS to the previous version. Went through all the settings and the same result. Reflashed the BIOS with the latest version and nothing changed. Default settings after flash made no difference. Now, I can't even recover to the previous version of the BIOS. Removed the battery for 30min and retored factory settings and no difference.
I am using a Segate ST3250820NS HDD. Tried serveral other HDDs too and nothing works.
1 When you said "cant boot" you mean that you had the operating system installed, then you upgraded BIOS and now you can’t boot to the operating system. Is that rite?
2 I understand that after upgrade the BIOS you get a black cursor blinking? Is that correct?
3 Why did you upgrade BIOS? Was to fix a particular issue that you were having or just because you wanted?
4 Could you send a picture of the BOOT order of your BIOS? Together with a picture of USB Configuration in BIOS?
5 One last question, which operating system you were using? Do you have a backup of your data?
1: That is correct.
2: That is also correct.
3: I updated the BIOS because I was told I should. (Yeah, I am rethinking about that one)
4: I will upload the pictures when I get home.
5: I was running Vista, data is safe.
So when Sata is set as IDE in BIOS, the system boots fine? but it will not boot with a fresh install of vista (with sata set as IDE)?
Are you dual booting?
When in IDE mode I can boot XP. None of the other modes boot (previous / new install of) Vista . No, I am not dual booting. Just trying various things to isolate the issue. One thing that I did notice was that when AMT was turned on, I got a whole screen of warning messages that the table settings were not correct. But that went by really fast and I was not able to read any of it. I am not sure if that had anything to do with it.
If you have an external hard drive disconnect it and try booting then.
No joy. Even removed all USB devices connected to it. Anyone know how to upload an older version of the BIOS?
im facing the same sort of issue wit this same mobo... ive recently bought this board and im having the same problem with windows 764bit only.. i installed windowx xp and vista64 and they are working fine no booting problem. but when i installed windows 7 64bit.. pc got hanged on the same blinking cursor. update my bios with version of 109. but stil have a same issue :s im using q6600 along with 2gb corsair XMS2 DH
x ram, 320gb sata II, EVGA 9500 GT with this board. can anyone plzzzzzzzzzz help me
In screwing around with all this, what I found that worked for me with windows 7 is before you intall it, format the drive / parition in the setup process. I use Acronis Disk Director to format it to NTFS and installed windows 7 without formating the drive / partition, I get the blinking cursor. But after formating the disk / partition in setup, it boots fine.
