I apologize - I believe you may have been given incorrect information. I have tested a Compute Stick connected directly into one of the HDMI inputs on a Denon AVR-X1000 and it sees it just fine and passes audio right on through.
Can you describe the symptoms that you are seeing?
Hi Lois. I'm able to connect to the Compute Stick from remote even though the video is not working. I've taken a screen capture of the display properties when connected to the Denon 2313CI vs a PC monitor.
It seems like the Compute Stick does not even detect the receiver. I can't even see it POST. I've repeatedly pressed F2 to make sure I reach the BIOS to see if some sort of Windows driver issue, but I don't even see the BIOS screens. When I let the Compute Stick boot all the way to the OS, I do see the screen blink once though.
I'll need to know more about your complete configuration to try reproducing the problem here. Please describe your AV receiver connections - what devices you have connected and where. Also, how are you powering the Stick - AC adapter to a wall plug or USB to a USB port?
I was able to resolve my issue. I completely removed power from my receiver (unplugged it). Once I plugged it back in, it could see the Stick. There must have been something hanging in the receiver that prevented it from making a connection to the Stick. Now the only issue I seem to have is not being able to output lossless audio, ie, DTS-HD MA or TrueHD.
You might want to try out what I did and completely remove power to your HDMI switch and try again.
Thanks, ConradC. Just tried that, removing both the output HDMI (which is where the power comes from when not on USB power) and the usb power, then powered both (HDMI output, then usb power) back up. Still no signal. Sigh.
I am using a Yamaha hdmi video fine DTS and DD, only work via kodi tv.
I just want a fix for time if anyone has one.
