I have a problem with my S5520SC workstation board. Under Linux (kernel 2.6.30 x64, ALSA 1.0.21) the output volume could be higher. If I pull up all controls volume is still just moderate. The bigger problem is the microphone which I use - if I turn up the microphone boost, all that gets louder is the background noise and my voice is very quiet.
Is this some kind of hardware "problem" or is there a solution to this? I already tried options snd-hda-intel model=intel-x58 in my modprobe config as I thought it might fit better than auto-detect but unfortunately, this did not change anything.
Any ALSA experts out there? Please advice! Thanks in advance.
