    Atom Processor Upgrades

    smoke44

I'm trying to upgrade a netbook that currently has an Atom z520 processor.  I would really like to install a z550, but am unable to find a place to purchase it from.  Any ideas or suggestions?

You're probably out of luck if you want to swap out the processor yourself. Intel® Atom™ processors are BGA parts (soldered onto the CPU socket) rather than PGA (with pins and a pin-based CPU socket). For upgrade options, you are probably going to have to work with your system manufacturer - and even doing that may not allow you to do the upgrade you want.
