I am not from Intel, but there are a couple things to check. If the problem is only inside Windows (Media Center), you likely just need to change a number in the registry and restart (situation is not specific to the NUC - you need to be careful when changing the registry). There are various sites describing the registry change, so your search might be for something like "xbox remote windows media center registry" (without the quotes). You typically change a number from 1 (the default non-xbox remote) to 0 (everything) or 8 (xbox only). If the problem is outside Windows (such as from power off), you might need to update your BIOS and/or look for BIOS settings added in the most recent BIOS regarding the type of remote being used.
