What happens if you connect the SSD into another computer? Does the model of the NUC have the letter H at the end or not?
No 'H' on the end of the model. Model only states NUC5i5RYK
I have since ordered a new Samsung XP941 256gb ssd and this one doesnt work either. (and this model samsung was even sent by intel with its nucs for review!)
Unfortunalty I dont have another PC to test pcie m.2 ssd, but both ssds are brand new.
I am at whits end. I have upgrade bios to 0246 (from 0137), downgraded to 0137 & 0130. Resetted bios multiple times, reseated the ssd multiple times. I am considering the unit DOA as I have not been able to get it recognise either ssd.
also tried vbios 0247 that was released recently. still no luck on either ssd
Unfortunalty I dont have another PC to test pcie m.2 ssd
There are adapters between M.2 and the usual SATA formats (2.5, mSATA) available, which may help for testing.
We have the exact same problem with a NUC5i7RYH not recognizing the Kingston HyperX Predator.
We have switched the Kingston Predator ssd to an older NUC5i3RYH and it is recognized ! Seems to be a bios issue
Bios versions when not recognized ;
Bios version when recognized :
Since BIOS Downgradeds are not recommended by Intel I have not tried it and I just contacted their support.
The information on the problem on the BIOS allowing the usage of Kingston HyperX Predator PCIe x4 SSD 240gb.
But this are the steps to follow to downgrade your BIOS
The downgrade process,
- Download and copy the BIOS information to a USB key. Ensure the USB key is on FAT32.
- Unplug the HDMI cable from an AVR and plug it directly into my TV (otherwise the UEFI won't display)
- Have to open the NUC to remove the BIOS reset jumper
- Restore the BIOS
- Replace the jumper and screw the base plate back in again
- Replace the HDMI cable.
