using the right syntax might help
echo "data for controller" >> S_0830_09999_002.CSV
cat <file> >> <output to append>
cat <cile> > <output to overwrite>
You won't be able to send a string to a file using the "cat" command, the cat command is used to open and read files, you can find more detailed info about it here: cat(1) - Linux manual page. Instead you should use the command "echo", you will be able to send strings using it, you can find more info about the "echo" command here: echo(1): line of text - Linux man page.
