Black screen after Windows logo because of the HD Graphics Driver

Hello everyone,

I have this problem for quite some time, I think it started in January. I think an auto-update was done and next time when I started the PC, I couldn't get to see the screen after Windows loaded. I just had a black screen with my monitor LED flashing.

I realized this is the video driver's fault (HD Graphics 4600) after disabling it in Safe Mode. When I was running the standard Windows 7 driver, everything was fine, but whenever I tried to update or use any of the latest or oldest official drivers, I had the exact same problem.

Today I thought I should try reinstalling Windows, but with no luck. This is frustrating. Do you have any idea why this might happen? Is there anyone else with this problem?

Specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte P85-D3

Processor: Intel i5-4570

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit

Thanks!

Hi Watt

What is the model number of your display?

How is it connected to the PC? (HDMI, DP, DVI, VGA)

Thanks

Robert

Hello Robert,

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

My display is an LG Flatron E2441 and it's connected to the PC via HDMI.

Do you think the display might be the reason for this fault?

Thanks a lot,

Alex
