    SSD1306 OLED Display Python

This morning I ported the Adafruit SSD1306 library code to the Edison with MRAA. This is for the i2c version that can be found on ebay under the name "Blue 128x64 OLED 0.96" IIC/I2C Serial LCD LED Display Module Fr Arduino/STM32/51" for under 5$. I urge you to buy one right away, they are fantastic little screen the blue OLED pixels are really vibrant.

There is already a node.js version that can be found there : OLED Display + Edison Breakout Board + Node.js

The nice thing with this screen and Python is the easy integration with PIL (Python Imaging Library). It is so easy to take images from the web or all sort of TTF font and display them to this little screen.

With i2c, it is only 4 wires to connect to the Arduino Breakout (+5V, GND, SCL, SDA) with no external components.

The code is on my GitHub repo : speccy88/SSD1306_Edison · GitHub
