There is nothing stop you from doing SLI (or not) on a Micro ATX like a ASUS Rampage II GENE if you mean the GTX 280 will be longer then the board it will do the same to ATX.
GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R will do SLI (if needed) with a BIOS update (thats important) and you need to get a SLI bridge.
Other one in your budget is ASRock X58 Deluxe.
i just checked the specs of the EVGA 121-BL-E756-TR LGA 1366 Intel X58 Micro ATX SLI Micro Intel Motherboard
it is in this url : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188051
it is a micro atx board, i just want to know how good is this motherboard.
Anyway thanks for the reply.
hey man, i looked around the gigabyte website and have found this motherboard, but i do not see this motherboard elsewhere on newegg or tigerdirect. Could let me know the price of this motherboard : Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4 . The url is given below.
The thing about this motherboard is that it has got 2 way sli and six ram slots. (I really need six ram slots because i do not buy huge amounts of ram at one time and tend to increase it little by little.)
i have been thinking that which one would be better in terms of performance and longibity :
1. Taking a Core 2 Quad 3.0 GHZ Q9650/1333/12MB and a XFX 750i sli motherboard
2. Or a Core i7 920 with the motherboard that u had recommended.
The thing is that both these set of products costs more or less the same.
The X58 is a much better chip then 750i.
I found a Combo Deal + Rebate that should keep within your budget
I don't know how much ram you was going to go with but I suggest 3x2GB for 6GB which your never going to need more then that but if you can you still can run 2x2GB as long as the voltage is no more then 1.65V.
Or wait for the P55 which should be out in less then a weeks time.
