    Network fails at bootup

I have a DX58S0 motherboard, using the on-board LAN.  Running Windows 7 build 7100, the network was running fine for the first couple weeks after installation.  Now after a warm or cold boot, about 50% of the time the network will not start, causing the entire system to pause until it times out.  The only way to get it to work properly is to disable and enable the NIC.  When coming out of sleep mode it works fine, starts up every time.  Anyone else having a similar problem?  I'm trying to determine if it's something in Win7 or something wrong with the NIC or settings that have been changed somehow.
