Windows update ruined my HDMI output?

My HDMI output has been working fine since I got my current laptop (Windows 8.1 64-bit), but last night Windows installed an update which destroyed all HDMI functionality. I've tried system restores and it didn't help, and all efforts at updating or downgrading my drivers have failed. My old laptop's HDMI still works fine using the same cable and output so I don't know what the problem is. Can someone help? DxDiag log attached.

Update: Screen Resolution under Control Panel now recognises "Display device on: VGA" but still no information is sent to the other display. I also think I managed to update my drivers.

It seems to be a problem with the graphics driver version you have installed through windows update.

I would recommend removing any Intel graphics driver from Control Panel and reinstall the version that came with your computer; it could be from the original driver disk.

Or you may try generic drivers from Intel here: File name: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloads/eula/24593/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-64-bit?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/24593/a08/win64_153332.exe win64_153332.exe

Hi, I downgraded the drivers to 10.18.10.3408 and it didn't help. I uninstalled and tried your drivers but those didn't help either.

It seems that your windows registry has been corrupted by installing windows update.

You may need to run system restore and go back to a previous registry.

See here for information: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/what-is-system-restore# 1TC=windows-7 What is System Restore? - Windows Help

I mentioned in the first post that I tried system restores to no avail. Is there anything else I can try beyond reformatting?

You might have an issue with Windows registry. Something happened to your graphics driver when you ran windows update.

You need to re install the operating system using the disk that came with the computer or Windows DVD.
