In order to find out if the maximum resolution supported by your NUC It will be necessary to have the model number.
Regarding the new NUC5i5ryk, it comes with an Intel® Core™ i5-5250U Processor. This processor comes with Intel® HD Graphics 6000.

The nuc model is the DN2820FYKH and
I will connect the monitor next week and check it out
I read the technical specifications for the new nuc
and that the hd6000 supports up to 4K resolution at 24Hz
does this mean it will work at 2560x1440 60hz ?
The HD6000 should work at 2560x1440 @ 60hz using DP or HDMI.
The maximum supported resolution for the DN2820FYKH is 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz.
