What device would you like to control?
I suppose that the port you are talking about is the ttyS0 port (pins 0 and 1). You should be able to send data through Tx and Rx pins like in any other serial interface. So if your device can be controlled using Tx and Rx pins, you should be able to control it with ttyS0 port.

And need to check that the serial device has voltage levels supported by Galileo board (like 3.3V or 5V).
If this is RS-232 serial device with -12V/+12V levels, need to use a level translator.
A BMW K-BUS interface. So... ya. Unfortunately I ran into an issue with specing the Galileo out with audio, so it sounds like I will have to go with plan B.
Great point! I am not going to be able to go with this board after all, but I still need to check the voltages on the "other" board.
Thank you guys, I appreciate it!
