Thanks for joining the Intel community.
The ICH9R does not support RAID expansion or capacity expansion
See below for more information:
Yes, because you are using same chipset controller and you are imaging data, not the RAID configuration information.
Please bear in mind that Intel does not provide assistance for images. We support stand alone installations.
Thank you very much for your respond.
I got my answer about the raid expansion. so, with this onboard SATA raid controller model (ICH9R), the only way is deleting the current array and recreating another array with the new hard disks.
I didn't get your point clearly for my second question. I mean if I eject all of the hard disks in my server and put them inside my pc without having sata raid controller, will it be possible to access the information (for example OS, and etc...) on it?because, I have read in somewhere that I should have the same config such as same chipset as like as my server on my pc to access the information on the hard disks or something like that.
so I repeated my question again
is it possible to move hard disks in the hardware RAID5 from a server to my PC with dissimilar config than the server and and access the information on it temporarily???
That would be possible if the other computer supports same RAID configuration but need to make sure the RAID volume is not bootable. If your RAID contains the operating system then it will not work.
Need to make sure the other computer is set as RAID.
