This behavior seems to be a compatibility issue between the NUC and the microphone you are using. Remember that we tried to make as many third party components compatible as possible, but do to the sheer quantity of these third party components we cannot always guarantee compatibility.
I recommend you to check if you are using the latest BIOS version available for this NUC Intel® Download Center
and the latest graphics drivers Intel® Download Center

Yesterday I tried to update to the latest BIOS version that Sylvia gave me. The NUC still seems to work on the update today (power light continual blinks), update a BIOS is this long ?
Davy, just in case I just test a microphone on a DN2820FYK NUC and it is working fine. I would like to mention that it has BIOS version 040 and the graphics driver is 10.18.10.3496
I took the .exe file to update the BIOS, after 20 hours of update I turn off the NUC. Hopefully it still works but the BIOS was downgraded to an unsupported version.
Taking the .bio and using the F7 command succeed to update the BIOS. Then updating the graphics driver did the trick.
