Does it show a Generic Bluetooth adapter?
It is possible that your computer uses a software or hardware switch to enable the Bluetooth* feature.
However, we highly recommend asking the system manufacturer in order to obtain a list of validated wireless adapter models that are compatible with your system and the proper means to accomplish this hardware integration.
Bluetooth does not appear at all.
when I install a USB bluetooth dongle it appears and generic MS drivers are installed. When I remove the dongle the bluetooth devices disappear. This tells me the Intel bluetooth device is not been recognised!! Is there anything I can do to get Windows 7 to recognise the bluetooth h/w?
I understood that you have removed the preinstalled combo (WiFi+Bluetooth*) adapter.
It is possible the BIOS could be designed to accept certain wireless adapter models only; hence the suggestion in the second paragraph above.
