My CPU only supports up to 2133hz. Do I have to return my 2400hz ram or is it ok to use? Any one know?

My cpu is a i7-5820K, and the ram I was looking to get was Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 2400MHz CL15 Quad-Channel DIMMs. Not sure if I should return the ram for the 2333hz due to compatibility or if the 2400hz is fine?

Thanks for joining the Processor community.

According to the processor specifications will handle up to 2133 MHz memory speed.

I recommend checking with board maker for any tips at BIOS level that allows the memory to operate at 2400 Mhz with your processor.

I have an issue relating to this. I have a 5820K with an ASRock motherboard. The motherboard itself supports my Corsair 2800mhz memory and there are people that are running it, but I cannot get the memory to run at anything stable past 2133. Everything should work but I am worried the CPU may have a bad IMC. I have read a few reviews where they try to run memory past 2133 and it would not work with their 5820K. When they experience issues they replace the processor with another 5820K and can then run the memory at 2800. How can I go about getting support for this and checking if this is the case?
