Please help!  Can't proceed with Edison

    Orto

      Hi everyone,

Please, give me some help here.

I followed the instructions as per Intel's getting started pages and I connected to my Edison breakout board and was able to copy the Yocto image.

Then I run Putty and connected to the Edison board and received the following message:

Poky (Yocto Project Reference Distro) 1.6 Edison ttyMFD2

      Edison login:

Then, I tried every combination possible of login and password. Root, root, edison, my own Windows7 login and pass, lower case, upper case... etc etc... I just can't pass this screen as I don't know the login and password.

Intel's website says:  root and then press enter for the password, but that didn't work and neither any other combination I could think of...

Any ideas on how I can perhaps factory-reset my Edison and start over?  Or figure out the login and password? Or erase the entire flash memory and begin the process again?

Now, my windows7 computer is not recognizing the Edison board as a USB drive any longer... the only interface I have seems to be the Putty serial connection.

Thanks in advance for any feedback and guidance on this issue.

      Regards

      Flavio

I also read one of the threads in the forum which suggested typing run_do_ota from the U-boot command line.

I tried that as you can see below, and at the end, when it asked for me to login... I tried, root and <enter> for the password and once again, I could not login.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

            Hello orto,

The next link will take you to a document that will guide you through the process, it will reinstall the Yocto image and it will recover your Edison if the password is unknown.

Recovering Intel Edison If Password Is Unknown

If you have any more doubts don't hesitate to ask.

            Regards,

              Hello Orto,

I'm sorry I didn't notice your second post until I posted mine, I ran a test and I successfully restore my Edison what caught my eye of your last post was this:

              rest.PNG

I think what happened is that something went wrong when you downloaded/decompressed the Yocto image so maybe try downloading it again, and once you have it, try to follow the guide above.

If you have any more doubts don't hesitate to ask.

              Regards,

                          Peter

by default it's "root" w/o password (i.e just <RETURN> for password)

another issue with factory image is that the UART error was causing the first character could cause the first character of the password to be lost

ie. mypassword recorded as ypassword if the user delayed for any length of time when setting the password.  This of course should have been solved on a successful flash to the newer images.

Could you finally log-in to your Board? Do you still having problems with this?
