Unable to enable Wired Ethernet on Intel Galileo 2 with Linux on SD Card

My Galileo 2 board works perfectly fine when booted from the chip and the wired internet works too. I need SSL capability and hence downloaded LINUX_IMAGE_FOR_SD_Intel_Galileo_v1.0.0.7z to my 8GB SD Card and tried booting from it.

Linux Image from Intel® Download Center

The boot is fine however I do not get an IP address. At the end of the boot, I see the following in PuTTY

Configuring network interfaces... ifconfig: SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device

When I run ifconfig it only lists "lo" UP LOOPBACK RUNNING and I do not see eth0

I have read through multiple threads and I'm unable to understand what needs to be done. This one last step is preventing me to do some fun stuff with the board...
