    Intel Edison - crashlog_nnnnn file

      Hi,

       

      When I do  a putty session to my Intel Edison Poky Yocto Linux env I see a "crashlog_00001" file. I suppose this is just a logfile, that I can 'in normal situations' ignore, that e.g. registered my flashing to the latest image? Or is this really a "crash" file where anomalies are registered?

            I had the same thing happen to me.  Instead of trying to figure out what had happened, I just put the bits back down on my Edison.

             

            SSH into the board, and I am sure your files are still there and "reboot ota" and you are back with a fresh image and can continue on your way.

              Tried copying the files from the zip by using Keka (un-archiver) as well as unzip -d /Volumes/Edison/ ~/Downloads/edison-image-rel1-maint-rel1-ww42-14.zip

              I always get the same crashlog_00001 file!?

                  I tried first on PC (Win7) and second on Mac with the exact same result.

                   

                  UPDATE:

                   

                  In my next attempt to flash my Intel Edison with the latest image I first executed (on the Edison):

                  # mv crashlog_00001 crashlog_00001.ORG (the original crashlog_0001 has a date of Aug 15 2014 with a size of 60275)

                  Then I performed all steps again as in the document Flashing Edison (wired) - Windows, after finishing the update (and login on the Edison) I don't see any crashlog_0001 file.

                  - Does that mean that the original crashlog_00001 was already on the Edison before I did the update (since there is no new crashlog_nnnnn created during my update)

                  - Does that mean my update executed successfully?

                  - Can I just delete the (original) crashlog_00001.ORG?

                   

                  Please can someone from Intel confirm?

                          the crashlog file is in /home/root

                          but as i mentioned can it be the file was already there? since I copied it to crashlog_00001.ORG, and there is no new crashlog file created when flashing the Edison with the latest firmware?

                            We don’t have that file, if the fie has not been re-created, remove it. Then if the file is created again please let us know the procedure so we can recreate it.
