didn't have time yet to try it but it but wifi direct should work from hw side.
Just quickly built and installed "iw" which provides quite some info on the adapter:
# iw list
Supported interface modes:
As far as I understand an adapter needs to support both "P2P-client" and "P2P-GO" in order to be wifi direct capable.
On the SW side I think specific security protocols need to be supported which I don't know whether they are currently built in wpa_supplicant.
If you'd want to use connman I think you'd require a more recent connman version. Not completely sure.
So I'd suggest you'd need to check wpa_supplicant / hostapd configuration for wifi direct and try whether you get it running.
Pls do share your findings
I think it's not, will double-check and add if missing - good idea
I've added the iw package to the repo.
Is edison board support for the ad hoc mode with yocto project at both HW and SW layers? Is any specific security protocols need to be implemented in SW layer?
Hi Alex, could you help me with the steps to get the iw command enabled on my Edison? Which repo are you talking about? And how do I clone them into my Edison and into what directories?
Thanks a lot for your help.
Check this forum for "opkg repo". It's "oohs install iw"
I hate auto correct on mobile devices...
Indeed, many of these are supported or will be supported...
The HW/FW is actually pretty darn capable. Some of it is still being enabled.
