    OpenSUSE 13.2 Galileo Image

For anybody interested, i have created a working Images for Galileo based on openSUSE 13.2.

      Some keypoints:

      - Several auto-extend Images preconfigured (4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB)

      - Completely (auto) build on the openSUSE Buildservice

      - Full distro available to use with recent SW versions

      - An (experimental) 3.17.2 kernel for Galileo

      Download Location here: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/tobijk:/Galileo:/13.2/images/

      Default User/Password preconfigured: root opensuse

If you are unfamiliar with openSUSE: Updating/installing new packages with zypper:

      zypper up

      zypper in foo

Preconfigured Repositories are: Opensuse 13.2 + Update and "Galileo" which hold the few special packages for the Galileo Board.

At the first boot the system takes a while as it extends the FS, creates a Initrd and preconfigures system services (ssh).

Feedback is appreciated and i hope you'll have fun with this image

It's great to use openSUSE on Galileo. Thank you.
Can we use this OS to control GPIO 16~63 on Galileo Gen2?
I try to enable the GPIO 16~63, but get the message below:

          linux:~ # echo -n "16" > /sys/class/gpio/export
-bash: echo: write error: No such device

          linux:~ # cat /sys/kernel/debug/gpio
          GPIOs 0-1, platform/sch_gpio.2398, sch_gpio_core:
          GPIOs 2-7, platform/sch_gpio.2398, sch_gpio_resume:
          GPIOs 8-15, intel_qrk_gip_gpio:
          gpio-9   (pcal9555a-exp2-int  ) in  hi
          GPIOs 64-79, pca9685-gpio, can sleep:

How can I set it up on Galileo Gen2? Thank you.

cool! What have you tested so far? Any (sporadic) issues?

            • 3. Re: OpenSUSE 13.2 Galileo Image

Hey, i don't have a clue about GPIO on GEN2 (i only have a Gen1), for me GPIOs 16-55 use cy8c9540a maybe you can try to load that kernel module. Anyway i'll try to find out what is going on there (may take a wile)!

                Tested so far:

                - Basic system ( ;-) )

                - Networking

                - USB Host port

                - and today i peeked a bit at the state of the GPIO's

Have yet to see my first oops of panic with this kernel , so no it "feels" stable for what i'm doing with it...
