according to intel's website, the E6420 supports 64-bit processes, but Vista says it does not, and when I tried installing Windows 7 64-bit, it was extremely slow, which is why I think 64-bit processing was not enabled on the E6420. Is there a way to activate the 64-bit processing, or does the E6420 just not support 64-bit? Also I have a 965WH.
Please help.

Hello,
According to the website below, the cpu does support 64bit processing.
http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=29755
And i know that in the bios there will be EM64T - Extended Memory 64 Technology - this option is not changeable.
See screenshot below.
Have you tried to update to the latest bios version 1754 as in the bios revision 1698 there was a fix mentionning this:
Fixed issue where system not able to install Microsoft Vista* 64-bit O/S with certain processor.

yes, thank you for your reply. As it turns out I had to enable Intel XD. This solved my problem.
