Pentium E6700 compatibility with Asus P5L-MX mobo?

    ejas

On the way to upgrade my Asus P5L-MX mobo I bought a sh Intel Pentium E6700, the one with 3.2 Ghz, 2 MB L2.
I could not find the Dual Core 2 E6700, 2.66 Ghz, 4 MB L2, the one Asus reccomends.
I took the risk to buy the first one as I found on Game Debate that the P E6700 might work also..
I managed to boot the system with the P E6700, but the BIOS does not recognise it correctly..

I fixed manually the CPU frecq, FSB and DDR2.. to the best I could..
At the beginning I received at each boot "CPU ucode incorrect. Press F1 to resume" ... bothering honestly..

Now, from BIOS, I managed to get rid of the "Press F1 to resume" command, so I remained only with the POST message "CPU ucode error", which is not so bothering...

Manually fixing the CPU, FSB and RAM frequency I managed to stabilise the system at a performance 4 times better than the one of my previous P4 3 GHz processor.. So the risk I took worth it, as we talk small money.. sh parts..

There is still an issue which I didn't solve and I need help...

The Shut Down command does not close the Win XP completely.. The system blocks after "Saving current settings".. I have to close it from the Power button..

      Any ideas?

      Thank you
