I just bought a new laptop (I've only had it for less than a month) and every time I try to connect to WiFi (either at home or school), my connection is either really slow, or it starts out fine and slows down gradually (within 20 minutes of use). I've checked The router and it's fine, I updated the driver, I've tried almost every fix I could find on the internet and nothing has worked; therefore, leading me to believe that it's either a hardware issue or a problem with the driver. I have a Dell Inspiron 5547 with an Intel Dual Band wireless AC3160 network card. The version of the driver I have (that was downloaded from the Dell support site) is 188.8.131.52. I tried contacting Dell and their fix worked for about 20 minutes (all they did was open up device manager, uninstall the wireless card, and then scan for hardware changes). As a broke and frustrated college student, I can't spend all day on the internet and I've got no other ideas as to how to fix this, so any help would be very much appreciated.
If you are connecting at 2.4 GHz make sure you are using the least crowded channel and that its width is 20 MHz. Otherwise, you can try 5 GHz.
Please check if it is possible to update the router’s firmware.
