Intel will continue to improve the Galileo product by releasing new BSP and software packages. We will share the details when they became available, stay tuned to the community for updates.
your suggestion does not help to fix my problem. Let me introduce you a root of problem:
BSP 1.0.3 and BSP 1.0.4 are based on Kernel 3.8.7. On a picture below you may see WiFi drivers supported by kernel 3.8.7:
And here is a list of supported WiFi cards by this driver:
Just need to add a required firmware you have mentioned to this folder to enable any of these cards:
But without a correct driver even a firmware will be there it does not help.
With Kernel 3.14.13 it is possible to enable my WiFi card:
Intel Wireless WiFi MVM Firmware support driver provides a support for my 7260 WiFi card:
This driver loads a firmware described by reference you have provided.
I guess a difference between Kernels is clear.
BPS 1.0.3 and BSP 1.0.4 are based on Kernel 3.8.7. So, there are no WiFi support for Intel 7260 and 3160 WiFi cards.
There is no card image at the moment to download, when are we going to see this?
Actually source codes are available (Instructions on how to build the Intel® Galileo run time image from the Quark™ BSP release 1.0.1, including Intel® Galileo specific patches - link: Download). And there is no problem to make a card image based on them as well as understand changes, which also described in release notes (link: release notes. )
I think you need at least 3.10 kernel in order to support this card. It's 3.8 on Galileo right now as far as I recall
if someone has an interest to test WiFi adapter like 7260 with IoT 1.1.0 + Kernel 3.19.2,
please use the following link to download SD card Linux image:
Please note it is a development and custom image.
Also it is possible to use Ethernet connection.
thanks for this. I will try to download this and try. You may be able to help me, as I have another post in a different thread. I'm having a lot of trouble trying to get the recommended files (from intel) downloaded, compiled and onto a SD card that will boot.
I've compiled everything and made the files that are listed in the intel guide. but if i copy them to the SD card, it hangs on the last part of the boot - not detecting or something for /dev/mmcblk0p2
Would be great if you could look at my other post and comment. many thanks.
