3rd party Arduino shields on the Intel Edison

I am using an Intel Edison to port over a project that was done on an Arduino uno.  The project uses an e-health board from cooking hacks with a library that was designed for the Arduino. When trying to compile the code on the Intel Arduino IDE it runs into compile errors that seem to stem from processor specific libraries not being supported.  Is the Intel Edison compatible with these 3rd party Arduino pieces?  If it isn't compatible out of the box is it possible to make it compatible?

for reference this is the shield that I'm using
