    blink example on Gen2 board

    jlengel

I cannot locate anything on 'getting started (gen2)'. is there a document?

the gen1 getting started mentions an LED on board that blinks. is this LED also on the gen2 board.

in short blink does not work on my gen2 board. any help would be welcomed

          Hi jlengel,

The Getting Started Guide works for the Galileo Board Gen 1 and Gen 2. You can check the guide here: Galileo Getting Started - Windows. Regarding your issue, could you be more detailed about it? I've just uploaded the blink example in the Galileo Gen 2 and it worked without any problem. I marked where is the LED located in the following picture:

Make sure you are selecting the correct board in the IDE and also the correct COM port. Tell us if this information was helpful for you. Have a nice day.

          Regards,

          Diego.

thank you for your quick reply. I have navigated to the reply section so I shall update you here.

the header on the IDE in the example is not the correct one. It has to say Intel1.0.3. then the GEN2 board appears in the tools board menu.

I tried to load the new USB drivers once I got the correct IDE but alas they say they are loaded but never appear anywhere in the device manager.

prior to all of this when I turned the board on I got 2 led light. one marked USB and one marked 'on'. now only the 'on' led is light.

this has gone from bad to worse!

I have powered everything off and restarted by applying power first then plugging in the usb cable. still nothing

your picture was helpful in locating the led, along with a magnifying glass....old people need help

            thanks

alas the board is dead. I have sent an email to Intel support for further guidance.

                Hi jlengel,

Did you already try to follow the Getting Started Guide? I'd recommend you to follow it step by step: Galileo Getting Started - Windows. Also, make sure you are using the correct IDE. You can download it from here: Software Downloads.

Did you connect first the USB cable before connecting the power supply? You should not connect the USB cable before connecting the power supply cable. That could damage the board permanently.

                Regards,

                Diego.

what I am looking for is an address and RMA# to send this board to for repair. if there are any costs other than shipping, provided they are reasonable, I don't have a problem pay them.

I don't know if Intel reads this forum or not, but they are severely lacking in repair and return customer support.

                        Hey bro,

That Diego guy is an intel employee I think.  There are a couple of other intel folks here as well.  Honestly I don't know that they take the product that seriously or maybe they are just level 1 support types because the answers are not always that helpful.  They will however email you copiously asking if your question has been answered, and dutifully ignore your response continuing the cycle ad infinitum.

It ain't the Old Intel Brother.  Trust me it's egg noodles and ketchup.  We're mostly on our own it looks like.

I cannot locate anything on 'getting started (gen2)'. is there a document?

the gen1 getting started mentions an LED on board that blinks. is this LED also on the gen2 board.

in short blink does not work on my gen2 board. any help would be welcomed

There is a LED on Gen2 but on a different location - it's directly beside the USB host connector and marked as "L".

Not sure which "getting started" you refer to and how you tried to blink. If you refer to the blink in Arduino ID: make sure you select the right board in "Tools->Boards". It will only work if you select Gen2 there

                            I have resolved the problem!

$60.00 plus shipping ($3.85) is all it took.

new board delivered yesterday, old board in the trash today!

                            oh, one more thing

                            Adruino software deleted!

I will use the intel studio software with the jtag interface for further development
