Why don't my Intel SATA ports work?

I'm running a Sabertooth Z97 motherboard and currently using the inferior Asmedia SATA ports on it. I can use my SSD and HDD just fine here, the only problem being that it's sluggish compared to what it should be. When I try to switch to the Intel ports, Windows tries to boot up, but after some time passes, it restarts itself and eventually tells me that there's a problem. I have absolutely no clue as to how this should be handled, and I'm afraid, if it comes to it, I will not be able to RMA anything since the PC was built about a month and a half ago. I hadn't realized that there was an issue up until recently, which is the reason behind this late reaction.
