Surface Pro 3 i7 (Intel HD5000) + ASUS PB287Q can't get over 30hz

I've been trying hard over the last few days to find out why this isn't working. But I think I've finally run out of ideas.

My Surface Pro 3 is attached to my PB287Q over a mini display port to display port cable, my monitor is set to DP 1.2 under DisplayPort Stream and I'm running 10.18.10.3910 drivers.

I've tried reinstalling drivers, two different cables, monitor drivers and now more recently using Custommodeapp.exe to force 3840x2160, 32 Bit, 60p Hz, but I'm told that exceeds bandwidth capacity.

Attaching the monitor using an included cable to my desktop works just fine at 60, so I am wondering if this is something else I'm missing

I've tried two cables:

Hi Mark

Here are the specs for the external display connection of the Surface Pro 3 (SP3) from the Surface Pro 3 Wiki. Thanks, Robert

External display connectivity

The Surface Pro 3 is capable of connecting up to two external displays. Maximum supported resolutions varies across laplet configurations according to CPU model. The i3-model can drive up to two http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WUXGA# WUXGA_.281920x1200.29 WUXGA (1920x1200 at 60 Hz) displays, while the i5 and i7 models support up to two external monitors with maximum resolution of 2880x1800 at 60 Hz. The maximum resolution of a single external display is 2560x1600 at 60 Hz for i3-based model and 3200x2000 at 60 Hz or 3840x2160 at 30 Hz (known as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4K_resolution# Ultra_HD 4K Ultra HD) for i5 and i7-based models.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Surface_Pro_3# cite_note-Haswell_HD_Graphics_Specs-23 [23]

So the SP3 does not support 3480x2160 60Hz, only at 30Hz. And the ASUS PB287Q does not support 3200x2000 resolutions or the 2560x1600 resolutions. So the max resolution you will be able to use with the SP3 and the PB287Q is 3480x2160 at 30 Hz.

Thanks,

Robert
