Hi Luke, the following discussions deal about a similar issue; perhaps you can find a solution in them:
Please be aware the driver version you are trying to install is only intended for systems with Intel® 8 Series Chipset, not for systems with ICH8 which do not have USB 3.0 since they are products from 2006 or earlier. If you need directions on getting the correct driver please provide more information about your computer (system and chipset model).
Forgive my misnomer
* 4th generation Intel(R) Core(TM) Processor Family
* Intel(R) 8 Series/C220 series Chipset Family
* 4th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) Processor U-Series Platform I/O
You are absolutely correct, not ICH8 as stated. The driver is in fact applicable to the situation I'm in.
The resources you provided are good, the first link especially. However, scripting a driver install is not something I was hoping to have to do with the built-in driver deployment mechanism in WDS. This really *should* work through the vanilla WDS methodology.
The third link did actually help. I was able to to deploy successfully after isolating those drive in there own group and changing the applicability to "All driver packages in the group" under properties.
Off topic: why would that work unless the hardware ids don't match the driver? I doubt Intel's crew would make that simple a mistake....
