i5-4430 VT-x Issue with ASUS H87M-E board

Hi,

Has anyone come across the following:

i5-4430 running in Asus H87M-E motherboard (BIOS V.: 2001) with Windows 2012-R2 Evaluation.

VT-x and VT-d are both switched on in the UEFI BIOS. But when I run CPU checks on Win2012 it (VMX/VT-x/VT-d) shows up as unsupported/Not Present etc..

In the UEFI BIOS it shows that VT-x is supported by the CPU

I have tried several BIOS settings and several CPU check tools. All come up negative.

Attached the Intel Processor Identification Utility result.

I have also tried CPU-Z and HWinfo64, all the latest versions.

Is this the MoBo/Chipset or something more sinister?

Maybe Is should try a Linux boot and see what that says.

Thanks.

HI Vos68,

I am sorry for your trouble but let me help you.

Based on the processor specifications it does support VTx and VTd technologies but this could be a limitation set on the motherboard when using different Operating System.

You can check the processor specifications to confirm the compatibility at:

My best recommendation is for you to contact the Computer Manufacture and confirm with them if there may exist a compatibility problem between the motherboard and the Operating System.

We would also appreciate users with this same configuration to share their comments.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your response.

As you said, it might be something with the Mobo manufacturer.

Since no one else reacted to the message I guess I am unique....

I will try Asus.

Thanks.

Marc.
