In regards to the chipset HM77 let me inform you that this specific product supports Windows 8.1, 8 and 7.
The support for Windows XP is what we called AS-IS. This means that this is an older operating systems that Microsoft* has discontinued or does not fully support. Intel® Desktop Boards and Intel will no longer provide technical support for them.
I would recommend getting in touch with HP for additional support.
Thanks for the reply. Could you please provide a list here of some of the LAST commonly used laptop Intel chipsets (or boards) that worked with XP? Perhaps if you know the makes and models of some of the commonly used laptops they went in to (that XP can be loaded on to). The link is about Desktop boards. Thanks.
