    disconnect USB 5V In?

    amarchini

Out of curiosity, how many people have modified their boards to disconnect the USB 5V input ? Apparently it is destructive to power through USB, so why wouldn't one of the first user mods be a trace cut or something to disable this?

Not looking at the board right now, is this feasible ?

          Hi Tony,

It might be possible depending if the hardware design supports it. I have one Galileo board that powers down when the USB is connected, and another one that stays on when the USB is connected. Let me take a closer look and see the difference between them.

            Hi Tony,

Yes, it is possible to modify your board by removing a certain component which will disable the board to be powered by USB. I don't advise people to modify their board but if someone need to know which component to remove, send me a private message. Keep in mind that this will void your warranty.
