I am a little confused. I think you are referring to the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology software but Just in case I will leave some important information for you.
You can try installing the .INF utility for your system and by doing this the chipset driver will be updated. Please access this link and download it from there:
Since the controller in your unit is a ICH10R, you can try a newer version of Intel® Rapid Storage Technology. Here you can get it:

thanks for responding. So far I installed the INF utility, and it said it was su cessful. However, device manager still reports version 126.96.36.1993
The installation produced a fairly big log file. Is there anything I should expect to see in the log file?
In fact Intel® Rapid Storage Technology does not provide information on Logs. If this is working fine, I guess it may be a visual bug. I will pass the information.
