Intel HD Graphics 2000 and a DVI monitor

Hi. I have a Samsung SyncMaster S24B420 monitor that has both DVI and VGA outputs.

But my computer only has a VGA output, does that mean it doesn't support DVI?

And if it dose support DVI, how can I run it? With an adapter maybe?

And if doesn't, will changing the video card help? (even though it's integrated, so I don't think it's possible).

I really want this DVI thing to work.

And forgive me I'm a beginner.

Hello Fares,

Let me help you with this information.

It is important to say that if the motherboard has VGA output only the signal will be sent as VGA but if you have a DVI monitor you can use a cable VGA-DVI and it should work. As you mentioned, adapters are good option but we do not recommend them since the signal can be affected but you can try it.

If you connect a dedicated video card to your system the onboard graphics will be disabled and the video card will start working as main graphics controller but it is not necessary to this. Just using an adapter can help you fixing the issue.

Thank you very much Kevin. I'll buy an adapter or a VGA-DVI cable and I'll see what happen.
