Write error when attempting to export gpios

I've had success with configuring /dev/ttyS0 on the Galileo, but this morning I'm running into a strange issue:

      root@clanton:~# echo -n "4" > /sys/class/gpio/export

      root@clanton:~# echo -n "40" > /sys/class/gpio/export

-sh: echo: write error: No such device

      root@clanton:~# echo -n "41" > /sys/class/gpio/export

-sh: echo: write error: No such device

      root@clanton:~# ls -la /sys/class/gpio/

      total 0

      Any ideas?
