Step by step instructions for enabling Bluetooth

    Clayton Hofrock

There have been several posts on enabling Bluetooth on the Galileo. Most of them are people having one or more issues connecting. I have not seen a single from 0 to using Bluetooth tutorial yet. (or at least one that did not require building a new Linux image)

So I played around last night with my Galileo, and have come up with some instructions. Please take a look and let me know if I got anything wrong. It took a few tries, and I did not document all of my convoluted steps. I tried to just document the steps needed.

Setting up Bluetooth — Clay and Galileo

I was able to pair my phone with my Galileo but I have no idea what to do next. Ideally, it would be nice to communicate with my Galileo via Bluetooth. Send commands, receive data. I assume that is typically done via a serial connection?

Things I would like to see and be able to document:

      • Connecting an Arduino sketch to my phone via bluetooth
        • Not really sure how to do that. What apps do I need on my phone?
      • Easily connect to other phones.
        • I think I had to edit some files in order to connect my phone. Could a random person connect? (like a interactive art display?)
      • Is it possible to connect a Bluetooth speaker, and play audio?
