Building a NAS, trying to decide if I want Q45 with ICH10R or ICH10DO SB

These are the features each has that the other doesn't...

ICH10R:

*********

Intel Turbo Memory Support

Wake on VoIP

Intel Viiv Processor Technology Support

Intel RWT

ICH10DO:

***********

Intel Active Management Technology [Release 5: Pro]

Intel Trusted Platform Module

JTAG Boundary Scan

I think the only features that "may" be of use from either is: Turbo Memory Support, Active Management Technology.

I've read-up on most of the features listed but still can't decide which SB I want/need more, any suggestions anyone?!

Cheers

Jed

The ark tool is useless

http://ark.intel.com/Compare.aspx?ids=34394,34395,

it reckons the two SB's are exactly the same, contrary to ICH10 family datasheet

This is a better compare listing:

The ICH10DO has Capacity expansion should you wish to add drives to the array later for more storage.

Thanks, but this is only the differences in relation to "matrix storage tech" which is one major componant of these controllers...

I'm ultimately trying to decide if I need the Q45 w/ICH10DO or G45 w/ICH10R

The main use initially is for NAS/fileserver etc, but longer-term I may want to repurpose it as a HTPC....

These are the main difference I;ve been able to ascertain so far...

Could I get away with a Q45 w/ICH10DO as a base for HTPC? It doesn't have X4500HD (Intel CVT)

Nothing stopping you from adding a graphic card later...
