Hi,
I have recently updated the driver of my intel graphics card to the latest versoin and since then the Intel HD Graphics control panel tray icon is always visible when I restart my laptop, despite having selected "Disable" tray icon from the preferences section in the control panel. I try to keep as little as possible in the system tray and this bug is very annoying.
I can manually hide the tray icon every time but it's not the ideal solution. Is this a know bug or does this just happen on my laptop?

Hi Drioz,
I am sorry you are having problems with the Graphics & Control Panel Try Icon but let me assist you.
I have tried to reproduce the problem but I was not able to replicate it meaning that it is not a bug with the driver so there are some instructions I want you to try:
- Open Graphics Control Panel> Preferences.
- Select Disable System Try Icon
- Click on Save.
- Save Profile.
- Restart the computer.
Hope it helps.

Same problem here!
I've tried everything, uninstalled, installed again, did what kevin said, still the same.
This very, very annoying!
Please, give us a solution.
I always used to click on Graphic options -> Tray icon -> Disable and it always work.
Now after the update it's not working! Disable is chosen, but the tray always appears.
I'm using Windows 8.1 64-bit on a multiple user machine.
Problem on both users desktops.
PLEASE HELP!

Another strange issue in this latest driver 3496 is that context menu isn't only applied in desktop, but also inside windows explorer!!!
When I right-click anywhere inside a folder I can see Intel Graphics options!!!
I've never seen this in the other driver, nor the first tray icon issue!
I want to revert back to the old driver, but YouTube is horrible with the old driver...
PLEASE HELP!!!

I can confirm that what Kevin suggested did not work for me either. I'm also running Windows 8.1 64-bit on an i3-3217U and have the latest graphics drivers installed (10.18.10.3496). Looks like a bug, I hope it'll be fixed with the next version.

Hello again..
This is really getting me mad!
I was able to replicate same issue on my PC at work.
It has Windows 8.1 64-bit, single user. It's 3rd gen i-7, while PC at home is 4th gen i-7.
What I did is just download the driver from the link (64-bit: Driver Download http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23714 here) and install it.
It asked for a reboot, I did. After rebooting the tray icon is visible while the option Disable is chosen in context menu!!
I reboot again, still the same..
Please help

@ Shinawatraa, The Tray Icon persistence issue will be resolved in the next driver release, however I do not have an ETA of the release date yet.
The Windows Explorer context menu issue is under investigation.
Thanks
Robert

I have met the same issue making me so annoying.
Even more serious is that in every time of boot there is always a error window showing on the desktop belong with "Intel HD Graphics Control Panel Tray" is "Enabled".
Once I disabled the setting, next time I boot into desktop it would not appear this error and tray icon, but the option of "show tray icon" would be ticked again.
I had tried to fox my windows and to disable all of other setup apps but it did not solve this problem.

Hi - can we please have an update on this fix? Windows 8.1 64 bit on Lenovo X1 Carbon v.2 - Intel graphics icon persists, despite disabling in adapter settings. Returns after each cold start.
Thanks.

I have also been experiencing this issue, does this mean nothing can be done until an update is released?

Hello all,
I had a similar issue on my HP EliteBook 9470m (Windows 8.1 Enterprise) and I admit it was very annoying. I recently downloaded the latest version of the driver for my Graphic card: Intel Iris and Graphic driver for Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 version 15.33.22.64.3621 released on 21th May 2014.
Now it works like a charm.
I hope this will help you
