Hello Nano, you may want to check these two documents available at our website related to PXE boot
hi sylvia_intel, thank you for your answer.
I've checked the documents and found the following:
in table 2-2 in pxespev.pdf in DHCP Options is stated:
Client UUID/GUID Tag 97 & 61 Type(1) 0=UUID UUID(16)
the client sets tag 97 and 61 (which is "Client Identifier) both to duid. for tag 97 this is ok, but for tag 61 imho not.
according to "rfc2132 9.14. Client-identifier" the tag 61 is used to uniquely identify the client - and if set, the dhcp server has to use this for building the identifier - ip - pair. if tag 61 is not set, the pair of hwtype/hwaddr is used to identify the client.
our dhcp reservation use the mac address as identifier (which is the default for windows clients) and we would have to create 2 reservations for every client, if tag 61 cannot be changed or disabled.
we also have different hp clients which use pxe, and these clients do not set tag 61, only 97, and everything works. the intel nuc is the only device which sets the tag 61.
how can we change this behavior?
Nano, I’m going to check on this with an engineer.
Which is the model number of the NUC?
it a D54250WYK
Thanks for the info. I'm sending this to the engineers.
as we are in a client decision process i would very appreciate a solution for this problem, because we would really like to use the nuc as clients for our users. as further information, i did also test the DC3217IYE NUC, and this one does not have the option 61 set, like all other clients we have testet so far, and therefore this nuc would work perfectly - but we need the i5...
any news about this matter? we have to decide soon if we can go with the nuc or have to take the hp :-(, at least for the first 100 devices...
I'm Sorry Nano. I'm going to request an update again.
Any news? Is there a way to request a pre-sales support to Intel?
Nano, I’m sorry about this information. I just send an email requesting an updated.
Regarding the pre-sales support, would you please send me a private message with this information?
- Phone number:
- Email address:
- Shipping address:
An agent will contact you back as soon as possible.
This is the answer of the pre-sales:
Thank you for contacting Intel Customer Support.
I understand that you would like to buy an Intel NUC D54250WYKH.
For a list of authorized distributors in your region, you may check the following link...
Obviously, Intel shows no interest to help customers with their issues. Really frustrating situation.
We also have problems with the same NUC D54250WYK with the latest BIOS update 28, does anyone have a fix for this?
I'm also having the same issue. I reverted back to bios version 21 to fix the pxe issue, installed windows then flash it back to 28 to fix the headless issue.
