Hi,
I am using 965 Express cipset (DG965OT board)
There is a new version of chipset Software as in the subject line.
Usually there is not much information supplied with such updates.
There is a long boring description but no real changelog like
what is new?
what was fixed?
This time tere is no documentation at all !
So how one has to decide whether this update is important or needed
Sure we can use well known philosohy : "don't touch if it is working"... but anyway.
If you go other places you may not find much info as well
and statements like "installed Ok" or "my computer will not start after applying chipset software"
does not make it easier to decide about the necessity of the update.
So where can we get professional info written by Intel about the new upgrade Software by Intel?
Thanks in advance

from what i can see by doing a rough directory diff between this one and v.9.0.0.1008 it appears that this driver has some new INF files for the Intel Ibex Peak Chipsets due to be launched in Q3-Q4 2009 (and later models in Q1 2010)...
see http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=18671
and http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=18657
these seem to be the new files in the "All" directory (win xp drivers usually)

Hi aditza,
Thank you ro reply,
...but that is rather too far fetched compare to what was asked in order to understand
the necessity of the update for those users with current motherboards and existing chipset installed.
I think if there is no explanation from Intel about it - issuing the update doesn't make any senese what so ever
Cheers!

Hi, ExpressUser.
fyi - the Intel(R) Chipset Device Software is not a type of software that you really need to upgrade. Unless you're installing an OS onto your system, it's not needed.
That specific version supports Microsoft Windows 7*.
thanks, Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,
Thank you for reply.
Well... I'm not interested in Win 7, so that was good to know.
Would be nice though if those few words were published at the site
near the download link
Thank you for your time
Regards

agree. I sent the motherboard team a note to see if they can add the collateral to the download.
