    GM45 - HP Compaq 6730s

      Hi everyone.

I have a HP Compaq 6730s with a GM45 chipset. On HP's website, it says the max RAM supported is 8GB DDR2 SODIMM 800Mhz 200pins. On the other side, on Intel's website/datasheet about this chipset, it informs support until DDR3 1066Mhz with 204pins. Since they are fisically different, I am quite confused which one I should trust before buying more RAM.

      Could someone help me please?

hello Erik, I'm more than glad to assist you and to answer your inquiry. Based on the chipset’s documentation, it supports DDR2 and DDR3 memory; however it is limited by the BIOS of the motherboard.

In this case, it is necessary to use the memory supported by the board.
