I've been told that some processors can handle only 2 GB of RAM, others up to 4. How do you tell? What other factors influence this?
I'd always assumed it was more a function of the chipset, not a limitation of the processor.
You can look up all available processor specs at http://ark.intel.com/Default.aspx
This is helpful. So the next question is how do you identify the chipset and how much memory it can address? How is the chipset different from the processor. A link to a concise dictionary of these technical words might do the trick.
The TPS (Technical Product Specification) lists the chipset, how much memory the board supports, and has a glossary of terms in the back. All the answers, in one document!
