Mine works the same way. The USB ports are powered even when the NUC is off. That might be a nice feature if you could turn it off, but without a way to disable it it is a bug.
jay kay cant you tell me wich RAM are you using on your NUC?
Kingston ValueRAM - Memory - 4GB KVR16LS11/4 - DDR3L - 1600 MHz / PC3-12800 - CL11 (KVR16LS11/4)
It must be this one, i´m not at home.
It´s 100% a big bug, if you can not disable it .
Every little move will start this tiny box, thats not good.
Jay.Kay, I completely understand how you feel and I would like to apologize for all this inconvenience.
Would you please let me know if this behavior started after the installation of BIOS v0025?
If it did, could you please roll back to the previous version 0021?
If you are using a wireless network, would you might to test the system without it?
Please let me have the results.
Hi Sylvia, first I did was to update the bios. I will test this.
Should I disable wifi under windows or in the bios? I can do both. After this test I will try to downgrade the bios.
Supports 0021 Windows 7?
bios 0021 and disabled wifi are not the solution :-(
Now waiting for usb 3.0 drivers and a bios whithout usb-wakeup :-(
Thanks for the information Jay.Kay.
Do you have a network adapter installed on your NUC? If you do, would you please remove it and restart the system. Test if the behavior persisted.
.... i always installed ram and the ssd, not more.
Its a ordinary dn2820fykh.
I think tests with removing WiFi and other are the part of intel pros. Whats with gurantee, if something goes wrong? Imho is this system banana-Ware, its shipped in a beta-status to v.v. the customers :-(
At this point, since we haven’t received a notification saying something about a new BIOS version, I recommend you to contact our Warranty department so they can help you replacing the NUC.
Today i tried it without the wifi, always the same effect.
Sylvia, do you think the nuc is not okay or is it only a problem of the bios?
Jay.Kay, please let me know if the NUC used to have this behavior before you updated the BIOS v0025?
If you want to you can contact our Warranty department so they can help you replacing your product. Once you receive the replacement NUC, please test it without updating the BIOS.
my first task was to update the bios. I heard about problems with the shipped version of the bios.
Date of manufacture is 10 Jan 2014, so the shipped version must be 0015, 0021 is from 16 Jan 2014.
By the way, the usb is permanently under power, also if the nuc is shut down. But I think, the nuc is not really 100% off, if theres power on the usb.
My NUC is NEVER off. It can be turned on from off (no power light) by sending a sleep signal to the IR receiver.
I find that convenient, but all this needs to be under BIOS control.
