I am sorry to hear you are having issues with your NUC but let me help you as much as possible.
Have you tested this SSD on a different system? If so, did it work? Is there any possibility to test a different SSD or HDD on this NUC?
I have opened a discussion-question about the same thing. I have the same problem (no hdd in bios) although I tried two 2.5 and an ssd. If you connect directly the hdd from nuc motherboard and supply power from another pc to the hdd.... bios detects all three hdd. The problem is either cable to the small hdd connection chip or the chip itself. I don't know if it will be repaired or replaced and be whom (retailer or authorised dealer). I am Greek sorry for my bad English....
I tried to connect the ssd to anotherpc and it was found right away... great... I waited 3 weeks to get this and then its not working right...
of course i tried the hdd (and ssd) and it was working. i am not able to try out connecting the hdd to an external powersupply (hint of other mail). i will send it back to the retailer for a rework/exchange of - or is there another way to work that out?
I completely understand your frustration.
My recommendation is to update the BIOS to the latest one (if you haven’t) as part of the troubleshooting.
Since this is a new product I would recommend you contacting the place of purchase or your Intel® local support for a possible replacement.
I just would like to verify some information which is the AA number of the NUC you have. Please do not send the Serial number just the AA number in a white sticker. I would like to verify this part number from our side.
When I received my 2820 NUC the past week, I had the same problem, both HDD or SDD wasn´t detected by the BIOS.
The problem had a easy fix for me, someone in the Intel assemble factory had a bad day at the moment to connect the connectors of the hdd board; one of the pins of the connector on the hdd slot pcb that connects the SATA motherboard cable was bent and not was inserted in the corresponding hole of the connector , I took a small pliers, straighten it, and all worked fine.
Maybe yours can have the same problem... don´t loose anything by check it...
I hope that helps
Thanks for the information. This can be helpful to others.
In my case the drive is not getting any power, and I suspect the power cable. I tried pushing the pins in, but no dice.
